| Target Group: Social and Health Workers, Police, Probation,YOT, The Care Standards Commission and Managers who work directly with special needs children and adults who may be at risk of abuse. |
| Course Aim: The Buckinghamshire Scandal was reported to be one of the mostharrowing and horrific abuse cases ever recorded. In October 2003, survivors were awarded over 1 million pounds (£1m) compensation for the abuse they suffered. The aim of this course is to examine the events that led up to the exposure and the reasons why the abuse was able to continue over a prolonged period despite obvious warning signs. |

| Grant Wetherall was instrumental in uncovering the Buckinhamshire Scandal when he went undrcover in the Longcare Homes in 1994. He continued his involvement for three years working with a number of the abuse survivors and giving lectures at local authorities and universities. |
